Montgomery, AL - Standing With Israel - May 30, 2017
The Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church

SWI Banner Plain

May 30 - Montgomery, AL

Holocaust survivor Irving Roth was the keynote speaker at the historic Dexter Avenue King
Memorial Baptist Church, the first pastorate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the current senior
pastorate of Rev. Cromwell Handy.  The promotional efforts of the
Jewish Federation of Central Alabama resulted in several from the community joining Christians for the event. Officials from the federation were also on hand.  Pastor Handy extended an invitation
to hold several meetings in the future as a result of the gathering.

All who attended heard an introduction to CUFI and the overwhelming contributions of Jewish
American civil rights activists to the cause of African American civil liberties over the last 110 years.  Following the presentation, the attendees were moved by the compelling story of survival of
Mr. Roth who escaped the the Holocaust.

Several media outlets were present to interview Mr. Roth.  Interestingly, the meeting fell on the
Feast of Pentecost, one of the seven feasts of the Lord mentioned in the Bible, a day of deep significance to both Jews and Christians.  How fitting a setting for the two communities to come together on this feast day to stand for Israel.
